About Greenbriar Church
Greenbriar Church is in Albany, Georgia. We are a nondenominational church affiliated with both the Acts 29 Network and the SEND Network. We have a passion for making disciples and planting churches and currently serve approximately 225 adult partners (members).
Our Kids Ministry serves children from birth through 5th grade and averages 90 children on Sunday mornings. In addition, approximately 80 adult servers joyfully care for and disciple our children each month.
At Greenbriar, we intentionally partner with parents and caregivers as they disciple their children. Our desire is to create safe, fun, and relational environments where children hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and meaningfully connect with our church family. We believe parents and caregivers are the primary disciplers of their children, and the GB Kids Ministry exists to support, encourage, and provide sound, gospel-centered, Bible based teaching to assist families in that calling.

Role Summary
The Kids Ministry Director leads and serves in a gospel-centered, safe, and engaging ministry by loving children well and equipping leaders to do the same. This role requires both a hands on, relational presence with children and the ability to lead, develop, and support adult leaders who joyfully serve kids and families.
A strong candidate loves Jesus, genuinely loves children, delights in engaging with them directly, and is skilled at building healthy teams that disciple children and partner well with parents.

Your Team
- The Kids Ministry Director reports to the Director of Next Gen Ministries, who provides encouragement, equipping, and accountability.
- You will work closely with the Kids Ministry Schedulers and other key leaders, serving alongside volunteers and children in ministry environments.
- You will participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate with Greenbriar staff on church-wide initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
This role requires a regular, visible, hands on presence with children and volunteers in Kids Ministry environments.
Lead
- Recruit, encourage, equip, and provide accountability for Kids Ministry staff and volunteers.
- Shepherd and develop leaders by modeling joyful, relational, gospel-centered ministry to children.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with volunteers, parents, and church partners.
- Resource, equip, and encourage parents as the primary disciplers of their children.
- Implement, evaluate, and improve Kids Ministry systems and structures to support healthy ministry.
Execute
- Be personally present and engaged in Sunday Kids Ministry programming, connecting with children, supporting volunteers, and helping create a welcoming, joyful environment.
- Partner with the Kids Ministry Schedulers to ensure Sundays run smoothly, including:
- Rooms being staffed and volunteers scheduled
- Ministry spaces being prepared and cleaned
- Supplies and materials being inventoried and purchased as needed
- Plan, oversee, and regularly evaluate Kids Ministry curriculum, proposing changes when necessary.
Plan
- Organize childcare for church events requiring children’s programming.
- Create meaningful ways to partner with parents in the discipleship of their children.
- Plan and implement key milestones and events in the life of children and families, including:
- Parent Dedications
- Move Up Sundays
- Bible and Journal milestones
- Seasonal events, school breaks, and summer programming
- A kids camp for upper elementary students
Develop
- Cultivate a Kids Ministry culture aligned with Greenbriar’s mission, vision, and values.
- Develop longterm ministry direction including a Ten year hope, Three year picture, and One year plan.
- Lead the growth of a healthy and engaging ministry for 4th and 5th graders.
- Develop and maintain intentional discipleship pathways for children.
Candidate Profile
Required
- A genuine love for Jesus and a life surrendered to Him.
- A genuine love for children and joy in engaging with them directly.
- Passion for seeing the gospel shape the hearts and lives of children.
- Desire and ability to partner with parents in discipling their children.
- Greenbriar Church Partner in good standing, or willingness to complete the partnership process within six months of employment.
- Affirmation of Greenbriar’s Statement of Beliefs and Theological Distinctives.
- Strong leadership ability with a proven capacity to develop and multiply leaders.
- Relational warmth, humility, teachability, and a strong work ethic.
- Strong organizational, communication, and operational skills.
- Sound judgment and trustworthiness when caring for children.
- Demonstrated commitment to Christian community and healthy relationships.
Desired
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience leading teams of people.
- Knowledge of or growing familiarity with Kids Safety and Security protocols.
Length of Commitment
This is a full time, indefinite staff position.
Time Commitment & Schedule
- 40+ hours per week
- Sunday is a regular workday, with expectation of healthy rhythms that include participation in corporate worship.
- Staff meetings are currently held on Tuesday mornings, with time spent in the office during the week.
- Occasional travel (approximately 7–9 nights per year) for kids camp, retreats, and conferences.
