Greenbriar is located in Albany, Georgia. We are nondenominational and affiliated with both the Acts 29 Network and the SEND Network. We have a passion for making disciples and planting churches and do this with approximately 205 adult partners (members). Our kids ministry, which includes birth - 5th grade, averages 90 children on Sunday. In addition to the children, about 80 adult servers care for and minister to the kids each month.
At Greenbriar, we partner with parents and caregivers as they disciple their children. Our desire is to create safe and fun environments for children to hear the good news of the gospel of Christ and connect with our church family relationally. We believe that parents and caregivers are the cornerstone of discipleship in the lives of their children and the GB Kids Ministry exists to provide the support, encouragement, and sound, Bible-based teaching centered wholly on the gospel to support that endeavor.

Indefinite. This is a full-time staff position.
Time Commitment & Schedule
40+ hours/week
Staff meetings are currently Monday mornings with the expectation of spending time in the office during the week. The amount of time will vary and depend heavily on the Kids ministry goals and initiatives. While Sunday is a workday, and kids ministry classes take place during the main service time the expectation is to practice healthy rhythms of being involved in our Sunday worship gatherings. This will be discussed in more detail during the onboarding process.
There is a possibility of travel (up to 7-9 nights/year) for kids camp, retreats and/or conferences.

Role Summary

Your Team
- The Director of Next Gen Ministries will oversee this position and will provide encouragement, equipping, and accountability.
- You will work closely with the Kids Ministry Coordinator and other key leaders to develop a strong and vibrant ministry.
- You will participate in weekly staff meetings and work with other Greenbriar staff on church-wide initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead
- Recruit, encourage, equip, and provide accountability for the staff and servers you oversee. Ensure volunteers are serving in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- This involves frequent, clear communication and thorough task descriptions.
- Communicate with parents and partners about Kids Ministry news.
- Resource, equip and encourage parents to be the primary disciplers of their children.
- Implement, evaluate, and improve the systems and structures of the Kids Ministry.
- Recruit, encourage, equip, and provide accountability for the staff and servers you oversee. Ensure volunteers are serving in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Execute
- Sundays: Work with the Kids Coordinator to ensure Sunday mornings will be a joy to all, such as:
- Inventory supplies and needed materials are purchased.
- The Kids Ministry area is set up and cleaned up each Sunday.
- Servers have been scheduled and confirmed and rooms are staffed each Sunday.
- The Kids Coordinator currently oversees the scheduling of volunteers, but the Director is still ultimately responsible
- Plan and execute curriculum including reviewing and proposing new curriculums as needed.
- Sundays: Work with the Kids Coordinator to ensure Sunday mornings will be a joy to all, such as:
- Plan
- Organize childcare for church events with childcare needs (Partnership Experience, Partner Meetings, Nights of Prayer, Academy classes, Special services, Wednesday nights, etc.).
- Create ways to partner with parents in the process of discipling their children and involve parents in ministry events.
- With your team, plan and implement key events around milestones in the life of kids, parents, and families (i.e. Parent Dedications, 1st/6th graders Bibles and Journals, Move Up Sundays, Birthdays, School Breaks, Summers, Holidays, etc.). This would include a kid’s camp for older elementary children.
- Develop
- Develop and maintain a healthy Kids Ministry culture aligned with Greenbriar’s overall mission, vision and values.
- This includes developing a 10 year “hope”, 3 year “picture” and one year “plan” for the Kids Ministry.
- Lead in creating an active 4th and 5th grade ministry.
- Lead in developing and maintaining discipleship initiatives for our children.
- Develop and maintain a healthy Kids Ministry culture aligned with Greenbriar’s overall mission, vision and values.
Candidate Profile
To serve in this role, the following is required:
- A love for Jesus, and a life surrendered to trusting Him and walking in His ways.
- Greenbriar Church Partner (Member) in good standing.
- If not a current partner, willing to complete the partnership process in the first 6 months of employment and become a partner of Greenbriar.
- Must affirm Greenbriar’s Statement of Beliefs and Theological Distinctives.
- A growing relationship with Christ that is grounded in God’s Word, prayer and gospel community.
- A love for the local church.
- Passion for seeing the gospel impact children and a passion to partner with parents in discipling children.
- A motivated work ethic that is both humble and teachable.
- Strong operational skills, relationally warm and pleasant.
- Able to cast a compelling vision and build teams around that vision.
- Strong ability to lead a team, knowing how to pull great people together for our mission. This includes the practice of wise delegation.
- Works well with others, gives and receives feedback constructively, and resolves conflict effectively.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Strong in written and verbal communication.
- Can competently incorporate relevant software and technology for administrative and operational purposes.
- Wisdom and sound judgment, will be responsible for children and need to earn the trust of parents and leaders.
- A track record of being in community and seeking out healthy relationships.
To serve in this role, the following is desired:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- Previous experience leading teams of people.
- Knowledge or growing in knowledge of Kids Safety and Security Protocols.
