Worship Leader – Full-Time Position
Greenbriar Church is seeking a full-time Worship Leader (40 hours/week) to serve as the primary visionary and shepherd for our worship ministry. This role reports directly to the Lead Pastor and collaborates closely with the Executive Pastor, staff, elders, and our established worship leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee corporate worship gatherings to guide the church family in musical worship.

  • Equip, pastor, and lead the volunteer worship team, building on the current foundation of accountability, culture, and preparation.

  • Resource and guide worship for Next Gen ministries (kids, youth and college), supporting their efforts to engage the next generation.

  • Foster corporate engagement in recognizing, reveling in, and responding rightly to the glory of God in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Profile and Character: 
  • Demonstrate a shepherd’s heart for people expressed through music and ministry.

  • Lead in humble dependence on the Holy Spirit in all aspects of worship and leadership.

  • Maintain strong commitment to Scriptural integrity and gospel-centered content in all worship elements.

  • Prioritize Christ-like character as the foundation of leadership.

  • Pursue musical and production excellence to minimize distractions and allow God’s truth and beauty to shine clearly.

  • Aspire to the office of elder/pastor, exhibiting the biblical character and gifting that would qualify for potential future eldership.


  • High character: Above reproach, teachable spirit, integrity, and focus on faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love (2 Peter 1:5-7). 

  • Proven leadership experience in worship ministry (3+ years preferred), with ability to lead teams, equip volunteers, foster unity, and delegate effectively in a shared leadership model. 

  • Musically skilled: Proficient in leading contemporary worship (vocal, guitar/keys preferred), arranging congregational songs, and guiding bands with excellence that supports gospel focus. 

  • Pastoral calling: Shepherd’s heart to disciple through music, care for people, and teach/admonish with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs rooted in Scripture. 

  • Authentic excellence: Committed to growing in craft while prioritizing character over artistry and excellence over perfection. 

  • Education/Training: College degree preferred (but not required); some formal training in worship leadership, music, or theology preferred. 

  • Relational and organizational strengths for managing volunteers, schedules, delegation, and cross-ministry collaboration. 

  • Able to commit to 40 hours/week, including Sundays, rehearsals, planning, occasional evenings/weekends for events, Seek Nights, and Next Gen support.

Primary Responsibilities
Organized around our 7 key categories, with full-time scope, shared leadership delegation, and philosophy alignment.

1. Worship Planning and Preparation (Primary Lead – Delegate as Needed) 
  • Prayerfully curate sets, selections, arrangements, and flow aligned with sermon themes, pastoral vision, vertical worship of the Father, and horizontal leadership inviting congregational response. 
  • Lead or oversee rehearsals dependent on the Holy Spirit, ensuring Scriptural integrity, gospel saturation, congregational accessibility, and excellence that diminishes distractions. 
  • Coordinate logistics and delegate to team leaders.

2. Scheduling and Operations (Primary Lead – Delegate to Team) 
  • Manage scheduling, rotations, and Planning Center for services, events, and Next Gen. 
  • Oversee logistics, budget stewardship, and volunteer coordination with excellence. 
  • Delegate operations for shared ownership.

3. Team Recruitment and Development (Primary Lead – Delegate Training) 
  • Recruit, audition, onboard, and develop volunteers, building depth and pipeline. 
  • Provide/coordinate training, coaching, and mentoring to equip the saints. 
  • Delegate skill-building while ensuring focus on character and Spirit-dependence.

4. Culture Shaping (Primary Lead – Model & Reinforce) 
  • Cast and reinforce convictions: dependence on the Holy Spirit, Scriptural integrity, gospel saturation, character over performance, and excellence for God’s glory. 
  • Foster team culture of humility, prayerfulness, joy, unity, biblical conflict resolution, encouragement, and celebration of God’s image in each member. 
  • Delegate aspects to the leadership team while leading as first among equals.

5. Shepherding (Primary Lead – Pastoral Focus) 
  • Provide spiritual/emotional/relational care, prayer, and support for team members. 
  • Disciple volunteers through music, extending to Next Gen worship. 
  • Delegate shepherding tasks for mutual care.

6. Accountability and Correction (Primary Lead – Enforce Expectations) 
  • Uphold clear expectations for preparedness (PCO confirmations, song knowledge, timely arrival, willing attitude) rooted in glorifying God and leading the church family. 
  • Deliver gracious, biblical feedback and address issues to maintain alignment, character, and excellence. 
  • Delegate support while bearing final responsibility.

7. Communication (Primary Lead – Facilitate Flow) 
  • Serve as primary communicator: vision, schedules, updates, feedback, and gospel reminders. 
  • Foster dialogue and collaboration with pastoral staff, Next Gen, and leadership team. 
  • Delegate routine communications.

Additional Full-Time Expectations 
  • Regularly lead from the platform (most Sundays) while empowering/rotating others in horizontal leadership. 
  • Support Next Gen: Collaborate to plan/train/resource youth/college worship, occasionally leading. 
  • Lead Seek Nights: Facilitate 6 extended prayer and worship evenings per year—seeking God through Scripture, prayer, and Spirit-dependent song. 
  • Participate in church leadership (staff meetings, planning, occasional teaching if gifted). 
  • Pursue growth through accountability, Word, prayer, and development.

Success Measures (Fruitfulness)
  • Services enable corporate recognition, reveling, and right response to God’s glory in Christ—Spirit-led, gospel-saturated, congregationally engaging. 
  • Worship Team grows in character, unity, skills, and Spirit-dependence; volunteers feel equipped and valued. 
  • Healthy shared leadership, strong accountability/culture, seamless Next Gen integration. 
  • Positive feedback; sustained disciple-making impact.
